Carra Singers
Carra Singers is a female voice choir, directed by Ausra Kvietkute since 2018. The choir practices weekly in Castlebar, Co. Mayo and was founded by mezzo-soprano Margaret Probyn Fish in 2015. The choir’s repertoire varies from classical and folk to popular music. They have competed in the Mayo International Choral Festival and have performed at concerts in various locations in Mayo. Carra Singers, directed and accompanied by Ausra Kvietkute, performed at Atlantic Technological University in Castlebar in May 2024 at an event to welcome the swifts back from their annual migration to Africa. The choir performed a number of bird-themed songs for the event. Continuing with a busy May, they also performed at the Carra Music School Summer Concert in Belcarra. Carra Singers were delighted to perform in Scoil Phádraig, Westport in December 2023 as guests of the Westport Singers. Here are some highlights from the evening.
Carra Singers with Musical Director Ausra Kvietkute travelled to Reading in September 2023 to perform at a concert in memory of the choir's founder Margaret Probyn Fish who passed away earlier in the year. The choir performed a selection of songs, including 'A Blessing' by Jay Althouse.
Carra Singers performed a selection of songs for residents and staff of the Mac Bride Community Nursing Unit in Westport in June 2023.
